This type of work is incredibly popular in Vancouver as the majority of people purchasing their first homes are in the market for an ‘Old Timer’, a home that is anywhere from 40-80 years old and is usually dilapidated, in need of some repair or restoration. Here’s a sneak peak of an exterior restoration that we are doing in East Vancouver on a 1913 Arts & Crafts home. The work consists of removing rotten shingles and 2-1/2″ bevel siding and replacing them with new where required and repairing what we can. In addition to the siding & shingle work we are blocking in what was being used as a car port under the front porch and recreating a balustrade railing with a newel post from an existing balustrade found covered-up on the porch deck.
